Dale Sanders on a floating log
Yesterday was so hot that we decided to start paddling early this morning, and departed New Madrid at 0730. Was able to paddle the 42 miles to Caruthersville and managed to arrive there before the scalding heat of the afternoon set in. Over the last two hours of paddling, we did encounter intense wind, which, along with the weather we have been  having, has become our worst enemy.

Managed to find some entertainment though - a large log (tree) floating down the river. Hope you enjoy the photos and videos of yet another "Log Walking" venture.

Arrived in time to enjoy lemonade in the heat of the afternoon, under the shade of a large cottonwood tree. Thank you River Angel Anna and the many others who greeted us in this fine city. Please go to my face book account to see names, images and other photographs : F Dale Sanders.

Will take a day off tomorrow. No paddling. Hope to catch up on computer work at the library. Only my fifth day off the river in two months. Will enjoy sleeping in tomorrow morning.

That's great. Travel smart. And don't stick the camera down there too close to Richard when he's eating or you might lose a finger.
