I am alone today. That is, " if" I were to have paddled out today. With heat and high water conditions as they are, I have been advised not to leave here until at least one other boat can accompany me.

Natchez is a great town. I have loved it since I bicycled in from Nashville several years ago. Have several local friends here, keeping me company. And to Gail Guido I thank you from my heart for the support you have provided. Without you being here in Natchez these past two day, while waiting for John Ruskey to arrive, would have been much more difficult.

Although I paddled my own solo canoe, there has always been at least one other boat alongside my Wenona Wilderness class canoe. With Richard temporarily off the river, and Layne back to work in Vicksburg, there was no other option. Once again John Ruskey of Quapaw Canoe Company, Clarksdale, Mississippi has come to the rescue. He and Mark River will arrive mid day tomorrow to paddle out with me to St. Francisville. There, I will join up with Brand Tallent and Austin Graham of Adventureitus Productions, who will paddle alongside me all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.

Hope all of you were able to see the UTube video I made of the truck that sank off the boat ramp here in Natchez yesterday. Caught some exciting moments there!

To Gail Guido, this old image hangs in the Presbyterian Church's "Old Photo Gallery".  I took this picture of it while standing on my balcony.

When the driver of the truck floorboarded the gas pedal, he was already down in this slick, moss-covered area of the ramp.
